About Consumer Sun
Evidence-first product reviews
Consumer Sun reviews consumer products — what is actually in them, what the evidence says about the ingredients, and whether the price is defensible. It is owned and operated by Cloudalien Technologies LLC.
Today that covers supplements, beauty and skincare, nutrition, diets, sleep and metabolic health. It is not limited to those: the standard below applies to whatever we review next.
What you can hold us to
Reviews are researched and written in-house, and corrections are ours to make. No brand pays to be reviewed, ranked, included or left out, and no review has ever been written to order.
Nobody here is a doctor, a pharmacist, a dermatologist or a registered dietitian. That matters on subjects like these, so it is said up front rather than buried: what you get is a careful reading of labels, ingredients and published research, not clinical judgement. For anything involving a medical condition or a medication, ask someone qualified to assess you.
How a product gets reviewed
What is in it, and how much. Every review starts with the actual ingredient list or facts panel — the form of each active ingredient and the amount per serving or per application. Quantity is where most products fail: an ingredient with real evidence behind it at an effective dose is not the same ingredient at a trace one, and the label is where that shows.
What the evidence says. Claims are checked against published research and reference sources such as the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements. Where the evidence is thin or mixed, the review says so instead of hedging.
What has been verified independently. Some manufacturers publish certificates of analysis or carry certification such as NSF, USP or Informed Choice. Where they do, it is noted and linked. Where they do not, that absence is noted too.
What it costs to actually use. Price is compared per serving or per application, because that is what you spend — the bottle is what the marketing shows you.
What this site does not do
We do not run laboratory tests. No independent assay, no purity testing, no lab of our own. Any review claiming to have tested a product in a lab would be lying, so none of them do. What is offered is documentary: labels, published research, published test results, and the arithmetic on price.
How the site makes money
Affiliate links. If you buy something after following one, this site may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
That is a real conflict of interest and worth stating plainly: a site paid on purchases has an incentive to recommend buying. The protection against it is that the reasoning is shown — the ingredients, the amounts, the evidence, the verification, the cost — so you can disagree with a conclusion and still use the review. Where the honest answer is that something is not worth buying, that is what it says.
